Immunisation

The aim of this program is to provide support to General Practice to implement government initiatives relating to immunisation, including those aimed at limiting childhood vaccine preventable disease transmission in the community. The ultimate objective is to increase the Division’s immunisation rate to over 95%. This will be achieved by collaborating with other organisations, service providers and consumer/carers groups to promote and support quality immunisation practices.

This will also be  achieved through promotion of childhood immunisation in local print media and talks to pre-schools and other children’s groups; Ongoing collaboration with Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital to promote immunisation to new mothers via Multilingual stickers distributed with Blue Books.

Support to general practice in ensuring that GPs and Practice staff implement the, National Immunisation Program and General Practice Immunisation Incentive Scheme. Assistance will be given to promoting a systematic approach to support general practices/ GPs to comply with the Australian Standard Vaccine Schedule, participate in local immunisation programs, ensuring data cleaning, electronic lodgment of encounter forms and other systems to ensure practice rates are maintained and maintenance of vaccine efficacy through cold chain monitoring.
